Nighttime is back with Hamilton Leithauser of beloved NYC band The Walkmen! He shares stories of early Walkmen days spent destroying pianos on tour and hiring horn sections off Cragislist, talks about his evolving approach to being a frontman, and does two beautiful acoustic performances. Then, Nev Schulman of Catfish regales us with tales of tech-crossed lovers, what he’s learned in his travels talking to the hoodwinked citizenry across the country, and his crusade to be a good Brooklyn neighbor (yes, this includes dead rats and abandoned cars).
Zoe Lister-Jones comes by the bar to talk with Stefan about balancing acting/writing/directing on her new show Slip, the never-ending NY-LA “debate,” and working on the new Ari Aster film. Then the one and only Martin Rev, of legendary NYC band Suicide, joins them to talk about growing up in the Bronx, working with Ric Ocasek of the Cars, and the Iggy Pop show that changed his life forever. Plus a special performance by the band Tchotchke!
For the series premiere, Stefan and his old friend Jesse Williams have a drink or three and talk about the good old days of temping together, Jesse’s recent Broadway run, and how he went from a would-be civil rights lawyer to a Tony-nominated actor. Then they’re joined by photographer Daniel Arnold for a talk about hacking it in New York and all the things that scare them half to death but they choose to do anyway.
Take a sneak peek at what’s to come on Nighttime! With Jesse Williams, Daniel Arnold, Zoe Lister-Jones, Martin Rev of Suicide, Hamilton Leithauser, Nev Schulman, and Tchotchke.
On The Nighttime Network, you’ll find full episodes of Stefan’s Nighttime in audio form, along with our movie podcast In the Heat of the Nighttime! Stefan, Ben, and Mo take two movies whose titles naturally connect (e.g., “RAGING BULL DURHAM“) and find out whether the two were an odd couple or a match made in movie heaven.
